A Louisiana Girl in a North Carolina WorldHey, y'all! I'm a native of Louisiana who has called North Carolina home for nearly 23 years. Growing up in the tiny, rural town of Newellton on the Mississippi River, I learned to love nature and how to entertain myself for hours in a garden. Little me checked out lots of books from the book mobile and dreamed of living someplace bigger, with museums and tall buildings. A journalism degree from Louisiana State University was the ticket that eventually landed me in Raleigh, where I found just enough of that magical metropolitan life close to mountains and beaches, all wrapped in a cozy country quilt.
Ch-ch-ch-changes...
After spending more than 20 years in the television industry, I made a major life change. I decided to leave the stress and demands of television and lean into the life I really want. The pandemic did that to a lot of us. So here I am with a new life! I now write content for the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. In the first year of the pandemic, I began learning the picture book craft and writing children's literature. I believe that watching an ant carry a Cheeto across the sidewalk is a fine way to spend an afternoon. |
